Seven Wonders of the World - Pyramid of Giza King Khufu
King Khufu is the second king of fourth dynasty of rulers of Egypt. There are not much material available about Khufu as per the historians. The biggest record ever found about King Khufu till date is the Khufu's Pyramid he built in Giza during his life time.
Khufu is the son of King Sneferu and Queen Hetepheres I and he lived from 2609 BC - 2584 BC. There is a little ivory statue of Khufu measuring about 7.5 cm found in Abydos. He is also known as Cheops, which is a Greek name.
It is believed that he took up the project of building the
Pyramid of Giza, immediately after he took up the throne. It took 23 years for completing the pyramid and a very large work force was used in the construction. It is also found that his nephew Hemiunu was used as a head for the construction.
