Babylon - Ancient City

Babylon can be translated to be "the Gate of Gods". This ancient city is situated 90 kilometers to the south of Baghdad. This Babylon city is a birth place of 2 major civilizations.

Description:
Hammurabi is the most venerated ruler of Babylon and his descendent Nebuchadnezzar is the one who developed and beautified the city to a very large extent. He constructed long walls, hanging gardens and lots of beautiful buildings.
Babylon is famous for its Hanging gardens built by Nebuchadnezzar, Ziggurat and the Tower of Babel (as quoted in bible). The city Babylon has reached its cultural peak during the rule of Hammurabi and his son Samsu Iluna. After this period, it was a whole mess as the city was invaded by the Hittites first followed by Kassites and others. It even saw the occupation by Alexander the Great. Eventually this city has lost its importance when it was removed from the title of "Capital" by the subsequent rulers.
